"If you don’t make the effort to read it, listen to it, watch it, attend it or hang around those that have it, you will never get it. If you never get it, it is impossible to give it. What if everyone took your approach to personal development?" Greg Gilbert is Unwilling To Settle, Are You?
I'm Unwilling To Settle! Are You? But I Am Not "Most People"! Are You? We truly believe in "Regret Reduction"! Do You? Who Manages Your Life and Results? I was so honored to be invited to share my new song, "With What They Died For" on KATV's 11-11-11 Veterans Day program. ![]() ![]() Welcome to Unwilling To Settle Inc. Home of Accountable Seedership™ Coaching and Keynote/Breakout Sessions. Whether you are looking for a speaker for your next event, training for your leadership team, want to reduce the number of regrets in your life or just want to read a few things that will make you think about changes you could make in your life, you are at the right place. Welcome!! I learned so much about people in my Human Resources position but the one I learned the most about was me. Thank goodness, because I found out quickly that I was the only one I could change. Over 150 years ago families would load everything they owned into a covered wagon. They had a dream. They had a goal. They had a destination. They were leaving everything that was comfortable and familiar behind. In today's terms, they were stepping out of their "comfort zone", looking "outside the box". ![]() They left not knowing what was in front of them. They battled the elements and numerous other obstacles in hopes of reaching their destination. Invariably and quite often, something unplanned would happen. A wheel would fall off, an axle would break, a horse or mule would become injured or die. Some would then take their mind off their dream, their goal and their destination. Some would look around at their surroundings and say, "you know what, this doesn't look that bad, I think I will SETTLE here". They forgot their dream, their goal and their destination. They settled!! Some however, would do whatever it took. They would fix what had broken or go to a plan B. Nothing was going to keep them from their dream, goal or destination. These, my friends, were the pioneers. They did not allow adversity to deter them. They were UNWILLING TO SETTLE!! They were NOT "most people"! They were "Unmost People"! How would you classify yourself? A settler or pioneer? Are you like "most people"? Have you let your dreams slip away? Have you just looked around and said "I think I will settle here"? If so, I've been right there with you. Mine occurred after retirement. Many people have settled in where they are today and have convinced themselves that what they are doing, is ALL THEY CAN DO!! They are so wrong. They have quit setting goals. They have quit growing in all aspects of their life. When I think of settling, I think of inactivity. Think of the sand and rocks at the bottom of a fishbowl. Things settle to the bottom but RISE to the top.
Where are you in the business, personal, financial, relationship and physical parts of your life? Have you settled in any aspect of your life? Food for thought: 1. Have you quit bringing new things into your life? We are like bananas, we are either ripening or rotting. 2. When is the last time you read a non-fiction book, attended a seminar or training? 3. When is the LAST time you did something for the FIRST time? 4. Do most conversations with your spouse/roommate (hopefully your spouse is not like a roommate) or children involve "hold on a minute", or a "pause" or "mute" button? 5. Do you still have dreams? Have you let others and the 6-inches between your ears kill your dreams? If married, do you and your spouse have common dreams? "As long as a man has the strength to dream he can redeem his soul and fly" - Verse from "If I Can Dream"-Sung by Elvis-Written by Strange and Davis Hey, maybe you are content with your life. That is great, just don't become complacent. Our goal in our products, presentations and training is to plant the seeds of gratitude and contentment. Daily contentment. You should be content that you have done your best to move forward daily in all dimensions of your life. We do want to weed out complacency!! Complacency is the inability to recognize impending problems. As the quote says above, you MUST do something different!! The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect different results. At "Unwilling To Settle" we do not believe there is such a thing as an excuse. There are only "circumstances beyond our control" and "choices". Take a look around our website. Check us out. See what we are about. See if I would be a fit as a speaker for your next event. In 2008 I wrote my first book, "If Your Baby Could Talk...Would You Listen? A Baby's Thoughts On Raising Good Parents." Get to know us. My goal is to provide the audience with information, motivation, inspiration, education and ideas on how to not be like "most people". WOW!! All that and we will have some fun!! "Mr. HR With A Guitar" will sprinkle in a few songs that will make you laugh and some that make you think, reflect and look in the mirror. Our mind is like a good book, an umbrella and a parachute. None are any good unless open. I share stories, lessons and songs. Although I am a great believer in motivational and inspirational material, I have seen the greatest value come from education. Education is a seed once planted that will hopefully sprout at the opportunity you need it the most! Some of my most beneficial lessons came as a story. That is why I incorporate so many true life stories in my presentation and leadership seminar. I do believe that "Experience is the Best Teacher" but it is also the most time consuming, brutal, costly and sometimes the most painful. I truly believe the best experience is that of someone else. Take advantage of ours. I spent over a decade as the primary Human Resources contact for over 2,000 employees. I learned so much about people but the one I learned the most about was the only one I could change, ME!! Also check out our Leadership Training tab on the right or go to www.alarmt.com ![]() Our "visit" and products have one purpose in mind. At the end of our days, we want our "Glad I did" to fill a huge dump truck and our "Wish I would've" to fit in a small bucket. "I wish my Dad would come to your program and hear the things you have to say." "I had to buy your CD because I couldn't take notes fast enough." "This is a strong message for corporate America and social groups." "Your presentation was loved by our entire group. Everyone commented on how funny you are but how important your message is as well, especially since we all get so caught up in our busy schedules. You helped remind us about what is important in life and gave us some good management tools as well. You certainly helped to liven up a day full of legal regulations and laws and that is not easy to do!" MH - President RRVHR Association "I would've given anything for my son to have been here and heard your program. What a unique program!" "You hit me right between the eyes and stepped all over my toes. I needed that." "Greg is a first rate speaker who has the skill to put a crowd at ease and share good information in a fun and friendly way. He was a hit in South Arkansas!" "Excellent! A wonderful change from the norm! Great talent! Love to see it again! I must admit that I didn't know what to expect but you were great! I'm totally impressed!" Important Note!! If you are a mother, father, son, daughter, grandma, grandpa, boss or employee we will connect and relate during my "visit", reading my book or listening to my CD's. DO NOT SETTLE!! Let's schedule a presentation. Hey, if we can't schedule a "VISIT", shake hands or "bust a biscuit", check out my CD's and my book, "If Your Baby Could Talk...Would You Listen? A Baby's Thoughts On Raising Good Parents. Sincerely, Greg |
