I'm Unwilling To Settle!! Are You? But I Am Not "Most People"! Are You?
Welcome to Unwilling To Settle Inc. Whether you are looking for a speaker for your next event, management training for your work group, tired of being like "most people" or just want to read a few things that will make you think about changes you could make in your life, you are at the right place. Welcome!!
Over 150 years ago families would load everything they owned into a covered wagon. They had a dream. They had a goal. They had a destination. They were leaving everything that was comfortable and familiar behind. In todays terms, they were stepping out of their comfort zone, looking outside the box. They left not knowing what was in front of them. They battled the elements and numerous other obstacles in hopes of reaching their destination. Invariably and quite often, something unplanned would happen. A wheel would fall off, an axle would break, a horse or mule would become injured or die. Some would then take their mind off their dream, their goal and their destination. Some would look around at their surroundings and say, you know what, this doesnt look that bad, I think I will SETTLE here. They forgot their dream, their goal and their destination. They settled!! Some however, would do whatever it took. They would fix what had broken or go to a plan B. Nothing was going to keep them from their dream, goal or destination. These, my friends, were the pioneers. They did not allow adversity to deter them. They were UNWILLING TO SETTLE!! They were NOT "most people"!! How would you classify yourself? A settler or pioneer? Are you like "most people"? Have you let your dreams slip away? Have you just looked around and said I think I will settle here? If so, Ive been right there with you. Mine occurred after retirement. Many people have settled in where they are today and have convinced themselves that what they are doing, is ALL THEY CAN DO!! They are so wrong. They have quit setting goals. When I think of settling, I think of inactivity.
Where are you in the business, personal, financial, relationship and physical parts of your life? Have you settled in any aspect of your life? Food for thought: 1. Have you quit bringing new things into your life? We are like bananas, we are either ripening or rotting. 2. When is the last time you read a non-fiction book, attended a seminar or training? 3. When is the LAST time you did something for the FIRST time? 4. Do most conversations with your spouse/roommate (hopefully your spouse is not like a roommate) or children involve "hold on a minute", or a "pause" or "mute" button? 5. Do you still have dreams? Have you let others and the 6-inches between your ears kill your dreams? If married, do you and your spouse have common dreams? "As long as a man has the strength to dream he can redeem his soul and fly" - Verse from "If I Can Dream"-Sung by Elvis-Written by Strange and Davis Hey, maybe you are content with your life. That is great, just don't become complacent. Our goal in our products, presentations and training is to plant the seeds of gratitude and contentment. Daily contentment. You should be content that you have done your best to move forward daily in all dimensions of your life. We do want to weed out complacency!! Complacency is the inability to recognize impending problems. As the quote says above, you MUST do something different!! The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect different results. At Unwilling To Settle we do not believe there is such a thing as an excuse. There are only circumstances beyond our control and choices. Take a look around our website. Check us out. See what we are about. See if I would be a fit as a speaker for your next event. In 2008 I wrote my first book, If Your Baby Could Talk Would You Listen? Check out Thoughts From The Lower Bunk. My goal is to provide the audience with information, motivation, inspiration, education and ideas on how to not be like "most people". WOW!! All that and we will have some fun!! "Mr. HR With A Guitar" will sprinkle in a few songs that will make you laugh and some that make you think, reflect and look in the mirror. When asked if I am a motivational or inspirational or educational speaker, my answer is no. I'm a speaker. I'll share these with you but if you are not wanting to be motivated, inspired or educated, it ain't gonna happen! Our mind is like a good book, an umbrella and a parachute. None are any good unless open. I share stories, lessons and songs. Although I am a great believer in motivational and inspirational material, I have seen the greatest value come from education. Education is a seed once planted that will hopefully sprout at the opportunity you need it the most! I do believe that "Experience is the Best Teacher" but it is also the most time consuming, costly and sometimes the most painful. I truly believe the best experience is that of someone else. Take advantage of mine. I spent over a decade as the primary Human Resources contact for over 2,000 employees. I learned so much about people but the one I learned the most about was the only one I could change, ME!! Also check out our Management Training tab on the top or go to www.alarmt.com
