"If you don’t make the effort to read it, listen to it, watch it, attend it or hang around those that have it, you will never get it. If you never get it, it is impossible to give it. UnwillingToSettle > Are You Able?
Are You Able?
Are You ButIAmNotMostPeopleAble?
Hello my name is Scott at www.hellomynameisscott.com has just published a new book called "-able".
It is made up of able words to make you more successful. It has stories about words such as: Advanceable. Addictable. Bookable. Brandable. Breakable. Buyable. Buzzable. Callbackable. Checkbookable. Discoverable. Engageable. Googleable. Invokable. Meetable. Nameable. Needable. Non-nextable. Openable. Pursuable. Referable. Requestable. Retweetable. Revisitable. Sellable. Show-Up-Able. Sought-after-able. Spreadable. Successable. Superiorable. Trustable. Unequalable. Yessable. He has requested other able words that will point you towards success. I could not pass up a chance to submit ButIAmNotMostPeopleAble. Here are the facts: I'm not going to quote statistics and their sources but after my research I find these things to be accurate in the United States. Also, keep in mind that when I say "Most People", I am not referring to 51%. The figures are much higher. • "Most People" are classified as overweight or obese. • "Most People" are dependent on their next paycheck to meet current living expenses. • "Most People" have a regret of not spending enough time with the ones they love. • Most People" will not read another non-fiction book after completing their education. • "Most People" will never pay to attend an educational or personal growth seminar. Well, would you agree that "Most People" are not healthy, wealthy and wise? Are we doing things that "Most People" do? Let's make a change! July 22, 2010, 11:00PM. That's when it happened for me. When will it happen for you? Can I suggest NOW? They say "for things to change, you have to change". Who are they? Who says that? Don't know, doesn't matter, because I agree with them! I'm looking for people that want to change! On July, 22, 2010 at 11:00PM I changed! I read it!! I read it in a book recapping a presentation initially given in 1940! THE "Secret to Success"! The "Silver Bullet"! The "Golden Nugget"! My "Ah Ha" moment! The secret to being HEALTHY! The secret to being WEALTHY in finances, time and relationships! Plus the secret to being WISE! The secret to Healthy, Wealthy and Wise! Isn't that what we all want? Well, I had some degree of success in all three of these but I was Unwilling To Settle, I wanted more of each. Well, I have found what has tripped my trigger and pushed my button. I know I've probably heard it before but I guess the "student was ready"! The teacher appeared in the form of a 44-page book with words spoken in 1940. There IS "nothing new under the sun"! Now it's not easy and "Most People" will not do it but I no longer want to be like "Most People"! Here is a quick question. How is that being like "Most People" thing working for you? It's probably not! Let's change that together. Okay, let me give you just a snippet of what has me so excited! The common denominator of success - the secret of every person who has ever been successful - lies in the fact that he or she formed the habit of doing things that failures don't like to do. It's just as true as it sounds and it's just as simple as it seems. Perhaps you have wondered why it is that your most successful peers seem to like to do the things that you don't like to do. They don't. And I think this is the most encouraging statement I have ever offered to anyone. But if they don't like to do these things, then why do they do them? Because by doing the things they don't like to do, they can accomplish the things that they want to accomplish. Successful people are influenced by the desire for pleasing results. Failures are influenced by the desire for pleasing methods and are inclined to be satisfied with such results as can be obtained by doing things they like to do. Excerpted from Albert E. N. Gray's The Common Denominator of Success, 1940 This has had such a huge influence on me. We must all start today forming habits by doing something we do not particularly enjoy but will lead to us becoming Healthier, Wealthier and Wiser. I began months ago with my purchase of a treadmill. By doing something I don't really enjoy five days a week and passing up food items that I truly love, I have lost 20 pounds. This is not something I can do for 6 months or a year. I want to be healthy for the rest of my life. This is what healthy people do. I want everyone that is unhappy with their current situation to join me in forming habits of doing more things we do not "like" to do but get us closer to our dreams, goals and destination. This shift is away from being like "most people". There is all this negative talk about our country. I don't like it but I believe our country is a larger mirror image of all of us living here. That is you and I. Would this country be a better place if these statements were true? "Most people" are not in debt. "Most people" are in great physical condition. "Most people" are constantly attending or reading something educational. "Most People" do not spend over 3 hours a day in front of the TV! Of course we would be a stronger country!! Let's do things differently. Let's do something every day in the healthy, wealthy and wise category that "most people" would not do. Don't forget, successful people don't "like" doing some of these things but they form the habit of doing it anyway. Let's become dependent on "Our House" instead of the "White House". Imagine this one day. You ordered a salad at lunch, took a walk around the neighborhood later that day, decided NOT to buy something else and put it on your credit card, and read 15 pages in a good personal development book. You just covered healthy, wealthy and wise. How does that compare to "Most People" ordering the chili cheese fries, stopping at the electronic store on the way home and using the available credit on their card to buy the latest device, getting home, pulling a cold one out of the frig and hitting their recliner for the 3 hours of TV that "most people" watch per day. Oh, wait, the 3 hours may be cut short because of our new toy we bought. Maybe there is still hope, they lie down, they reach for oh, no, the remote control, more TV. But wait, they turn the TV off, they want to read. They reach for a good, OH, NO, a magazine about celebrities. Does any of these hit home? Yeah, me too, but I am changing. I am like "most people" in many ways but if these way do not contribute to a healthier, wealthier (in time, relationships and finance) and wiser lifestyle, then I am making a change.
