I was honored to be allowed to share my new song "With What They Died For" on KATV's Veteran's Day program on 11-11-11. The song honors our military, fire and police departments.

At the end of the program I was contacted by a senior citizen on a mission.

She said Washington DC needed to answer the question in the song;
Are you proud of what you've done with what they died for?

She ordered 550 CD's and sent one to each member of the House and Senate in their own envelope.

She was doing this in honor of her uncle who died in the Korean War and because of her concern for our country.

If a lady in a small town in Arkansas can send 536 CD's to Washington DC, can you and I send a few to let them know how we feel?

The question in the song is also very appropriate for friends and loved ones that are struggling.
Don't "love them as they are". Let them know you care and say, "you are better than that".

It's a simple question. Well, are you? People died and continue to die for us to enjoy the opportunities, the freedom and safe environment that we call The United States Of America.

The United States Of America. Are we?

What is The United States Of America? Is it just a piece of dirt between Canada and Mexico with a huge back 40 jutting off of Canada and an island in the Pacific? NO! It is over 300 million people that choose to occupy those beautiful pieces of real estate. It's not the dirt, it's the people. It's you and I. We are the United States Of America but are we united? Are we united in looking at our own house and not just whining and pointing fingers at the White House? Are we united in improving our own health, finances, marriages, businesses, work, families and relationships? Are we united in speaking, acting and voting in a manner that returns this country to its proper position of respect in the world?

One of the biggest lies presently circulating is this ; "A true friend is one that accepts me just as I am, no matter what I do."

That is a flat out lie that enables and tolerates mediocrity. A true friend is one that is honest with you, puts their hands on your shoulders, looks you right in the eye and says "you are better than this."

The person you tell this to could be a friend, a child, a parent, a loved one or even a politician. I'm saying it to myself and every American. Let's put our hands on each other's shoulders, look each other in the eye and tell each other, "We are better than this".
